Types of operations

Standard operation, setting operation, or operation independent of the number of pieces - which one to choose?

Where can I find it?

Types of operations can be found in several places:

  • Product technology.

  • Order planning.

  • Editing manufacturing tasks from the orders' perspective.

How does it work?

There are three types of operations to choose from, which are displayed in three different ways on the production plan. Choosing the right one ensures that employees have a better understanding of the tasks assigned to them:

Standard production operation - the worker produces a specified quantity of product on a machine/operation.

In this case, the order closes when the workers complete the specified quantity of product.

Setting operation - it's located in the middle of the tile with the standard production operation.

It's used to prepare the machine/operation for work - it should precede a specific standard operation, for example:

Lathe setup → Standard production operation on the lathe.

Operation independent of the number of pieces - marked with a purple bar on the right side of the production plan.

In the case of "Setting Operation" and "Operation independent of the number of pieces", orders will be closed when the worker clicks "STOP - DONE". By pressing "STOP - NOT DONE", the unfinished order will be halted and remain on the plan.
